I recently
finished a Fine Art degree (2005) at the Derby University.
I class myself has a Sculptor/Maker and a Visual Arts Practitioner.
There are two side to my business firstly, has a studio
artist I mainly work figuratively where I experiment with
human feelings and emotions. These I transfer in to figures
using body language and gesture utilizing many different
materials. For the past few years I have been working with
the figure of the Minotaur, which I have developed not only
in various scales but also the concepts thereby become child-like
in appearance.
My reasoning behind this is that children show their feelings
and emotions more readily than adults; this allows me to
over state the vulnerabilities we all feel when our emotions
take over. Also the idea of what is classed as a Monster
or Beast could possibly have any feeling, let alone be allowed
to show them is also part of the message I am trying to
convey.
I plan to continue this work and develop it still further.
The second part
the business is has Visual arts practitioner, where I take
my skills in to schools and communities setting. I work
in partnership children, teachers and adult education, where
I conducting workshops, which are tailored for their individual
requirements.
This part of this business is fairly new
