I draw images of people.
Recognisably male or female but usually, lonely people in a moment
of ordinariness, a moment of vulnerability with a humorous or even
absurd perspective.
My style of drawing,
described as loose and edging toward caricature, using soft pencil
and occasionally charcoal, is constantly evolving. I use soft pastel
for colour and frequently leave the plain whiteness of the paper
as the background. I like the idea that the drawing may appear incomplete
or unfinished. The drawing is finished, the moment is registered
but the loneliness goes on.
Currently I do not set
out to achieve a full colour pictorial composition but I do attempt
to suggest a glimpse of people being people and the lonely fragility
of it all.
