for Fine Artists
HMS
was set up in 2007 to provide 18 "wet & dirty"
affordable spaces by artist Jackie Berridge. Situated
just off junction 25 of the M1, within the conservation
area of Long Eaton, HMS provides a creative environment
where artists can develop their practice. Currently there
are a mix of artists from a wide range of backgrounds
- from those who have recently graduated to more experienced
artists exhibiting internationally, including sculptors,
painters, photographers and video artists. The studios
also benefit from an exhibition area of 20 linear metres
which allows artists to showcase their work. Viewing the

benefits from a 99yr lease which offers long term security.
We would like to thank Erewash Borough Council & Derby
University for their support in setting up a graduate
residency at HMS. Also lottery funding from the Arts Council
of £5000 towards upgrading the electrics has been
very much appreciated.
